Sketchbook + Reflection

Sketchbook - Before looking into architecture I wrote down the highlighted words from my mood board and narrowed down my guidelines for my project. I often referenced this list when I felt stuck or felt like I was veering away from my main point. I then printed out some photos of abstract conceptual models that I liked and analyzed how the models manipulated the eye by doing small studies. I learned:

where the eye is drawn to and how this can effect the balance of a photo as well
- the majority of them have emphasis on a side of a photo rather than being in the middle
  - which creates an interesting composition as well
It was interesting to look at the how they used the forms and shapes to balance out the photo which helped me to gain an understanding before trying to create something.

Reflection - I liked how this process helped me break down what I was seeing and why It worked well visually. The most interesting aspect I found during this process is that if not all are unbalanced. All of the models have some weight that leans to one side, yet is balanced out equally through leading lines or curves. The challenging aspect was trying not to outline the whole model and only pick lines I thought was necessary to the models structure and balance. The process of breaking down the models was very successful and will impact my final design. I will definitely try to reference this process in future projects whenever I can.
